Front of House Training Program Details

Our expert instructors, who have extensive experience in the food and hospitality industry, will guide you through a range of front of house topics and insights to enhance your long term career skillsets.

  • Our Front of House Training Program focuses on teaching you the art of effective communication and customer engagement.
  • You'll learn how to make each guest feel valued and attended to, while skillfully handling any special requests or concerns that may arise.

First impressions matter, and the art of table setting and service etiquette plays a significant role in shaping a guest's dining experience. 

  • Our program will guide you through the intricacies of proper table setting, from arranging flatware and glassware to folding napkins in a variety of elegant styles. 
  • You'll also learn the essentials of service etiquette, ensuring that you interact with guests in a polished and professional manner.

Discover the art and science of crafting the perfect cup of coffee with our Full Barista Training module, designed to complement our Front of House Training Program. 

  • At Kitchen of Purpose, we'll immerse you in the world of coffee, from grinding techniques to mastering various brewing methods. 
  • You'll learn how to expertly prepare a wide range of espresso-based drinks and other specialty coffee beverages, as well as steaming milk for velvety lattes and eye-catching latte art. 
  • Our comprehensive training will equip you with the skills and knowledge to excel as a professional barista, elevating the overall experience for your guests and setting your establishment apart.

Elevate your front of house expertise with our comprehensive Bartending Training Module, designed to transform you into a skilled and confident mixologist. 

  • At Kitchen of Purpose, we'll teach you the foundations of classic and contemporary cocktails, exploring the delicate balance of flavors, textures, and presentation. 
  • You'll master essential bartending techniques, such as muddling, shaking, stirring, and layering, as well as learn the art of garnishing to create visually stunning drinks. 
  • Our program also covers crucial aspects of bar management, including responsible alcohol service and customer engagement. 
  • By the end of our Bartending Training Module, you'll be well-equipped to create memorable and exciting beverage experiences for your guests.

In the dynamic world of restaurant service, unexpected challenges can arise. 

  • Our Front of House Training Program equips you with the necessary conflict resolution and problem-solving skills to effectively address and resolve any issues that may emerge. 
  • You'll learn how to stay calm under pressure, handle customer complaints with tact, and find creative solutions to ensure your guests leave your establishment satisfied and eager to return.

Certifications

Every student will graduate from the program with the following:

 

  • Kitchen of Purpose Diploma
  • TiPS Alcohol Certification
  • ServSafe Manager Certificate, National Restaurant Association
  • AllerTrain Manager Certificate, MenuTrinfo

 

Graduate Support

Students receive job placement assistance in the food industry upon program completion. We follow graduates for 2 years, offering employment and resource support as needed along the way.

Do you have a passion for cooking and want a career in the culinary arts?

Please review our eligibility requirements before applying for our program:

21 years old or older

Able to stand for 6-8 hours and able to lift up to 50lbs from the floor to the table

Unemployed or underemployed

Able to read, write, and comprehend the language of the course (English or Spanish)

Drug-free for at least 120 days before starting the program

Receive Help Networking With Employers

We count with the support of more than 40 food and hospitality industry employers in the DC Metro area. Our employer partners host our students for job shadowing and internships, assist with chef demonstrations and other workshops, and hire our students upon graduation.
