John W. Gardner, Jr.

Board Member


John has 20+ years’ experience in both construction and business. In 2016, John founded Wallace Consulting & Construction, Inc. to build upon his extensive construction industry experience. In July 2022, John expanded the Wallace brand when he founded Wallace Creative, an architectural design component.


John’s building portfolio includes several notable projects: the worldwide headquarters for a Fortune 500 company; the DC headquarters of the world’s largest billing Law Firm; numerous high-rise buildings in/around the DC metro area; and, various large-scale projects all over the continental US.


John’s comprehensive construction industry knowledge is so well respected that he has been an expert witness in legal proceedings on construction issues in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Also, John is often quoted in articles related to construction in the food service industry and he has been invited to be a guest lecturer at local colleges and universities.


John has been heavily involved in the hospitality industry, having built many foodservice-related

spaces across the region. The Wallace portfolio includes: numerous Milk & Honey locations, all of the Mission Group restaurants/bars, as well as many college campus dining facilities (UMES, Norfolk State University, Virginia State University, Mississippi Valley State University, Lincoln University).


John became involved in Kitchen of Purpose because he supports their mission to train young people for future job opportunities in the hospitality industry. John believes the trainees learn valuable and useful skills which not only enable them to pursue careers in hospitality, but also to provide nutritious food to those in need during the training process.


John lives in Highland, Maryland with his family.
