Baking Training Program Details

Our expert instructors, who have extensive experience in the food and hospitality industry, will guide you through a range of baking training topics and insights to enhance your long term career skillsets.

Embark on a journey into the delightful world of bread and pastry making with our Baking Training Program. 

  • At Kitchen of Purpose, we'll introduce you to a variety of doughs, from classic breads to delectable pastries. 
  • You'll learn the fundamentals of mixing, proofing, and shaping, as well as the science behind the perfect rise and crumb. 
  • With our expert guidance, you'll master the art of creating mouthwatering baked goods that are sure to impress.

Unleash your creativity with our comprehensive cake decorating module. 

  • We'll teach you various techniques to skillfully adorn your cakes including various piping and icing techniques.
  • By the end of our program, you'll have the confidence and know-how to design and execute stunning, professional-quality cakes for any occasion.

Delve into the refined world of French patisserie with our specialized training module. 

  • At Kitchen of Purpose, we'll guide you through the intricate techniques required to create classic pastries and tarts.
  • Discover the secrets of laminated doughs, perfect pastry cream, and silky ganache, and elevate your baking skills to new heights.

At Kitchen of Purpose, we prioritize the importance of food safety and sanitation in our Baking Training Program. 

  • You'll learn the best practices for maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, including proper food handling, storage, and preparation techniques. 
  • We'll also cover important regulations and guidelines to ensure that your baked goods are not only delicious but also safe for consumption.

160 hours of a paid working and learning experience with a food industry employer in the DC, VA, and MD metropolitan area. Internships can be at restaurants, catering companies, hotels, and other establishments with commercial kitchens. Most students receive an official job offer upon completion of their hours!

Certifications

Every student will graduate from the program with the following:

 

  • Kitchen of Purpose Diploma
  • ServSafe Manager Certificate, National Restaurant Association
  • AllerTrain Manager Certificate, MenuTrinfo

 

Graduate Support

Students receive job placement assistance in the food industry upon program completion. We follow graduates for 2 years, offering employment and resource support as needed along the way.

Do you have a passion for cooking and want a career in the culinary arts?

Please review our eligibility requirements before applying for our program:

18 years old or older

Able to stand for 6-8 hours and able to lift up to 50lbs from the floor to the table

Unemployed or underemployed

Able to read, write, and comprehend the language of the course (English or Spanish)

Drug-free for at least 120 days before starting the program

Receive Help Networking With Employers

We count with the support of more than 40 food and hospitality industry employers in the DC Metro area. Our employer partners host our students for job shadowing and internships, assist with chef demonstrations and other workshops, and hire our students upon graduation.
